The Son of God died

That the only God is alone “eternal, immortal” is stated throughout the scriptures. And however you want to define death, Paul says it’s something God simply cannot do.

In 1Tim 1.17 the only God is described as eternally immortal and who alone [by nature] has immortality in 1Tim 6.16! Yet, of the Son Paul says: “I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”

Because “we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son.” Gal 2.20b; Rom 5.10. And 1 John 1:7 speaks of the blood the Son shed for us, which is the blood of the covenant (Heb 10:29). Nowhere does the NT say the Son suffered or died through a human nature/flesh only, as the Double Nature theory assumes.

REMEMBER

  • God is all-knowing, the Son is not: Mar 12:32; Acts 1:7; cp. Lk 2:52;
  • God is All-powerful, the Son was given “all authority”: John 17:2;
  • God is ultimately good; the Son says there is only one who is good: Luke 18:19;
  • God is called “God of gods, the great God,” the Almighty, titles never applied to the Son because he has a God: John 20:17; Rev 3;
  • God cannot be tempted; the Son was tempted throughout his life: Luke 22:28; cp. Hebrews 4:15;
  • God never changes, the Son “grew in wisdom and stature before God”: Luke 2:52
